KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 (Bernama) -- Second seeds Nuraqilah Maisarah Ramdan-Ong Xin Yee fought back from a set down to capture the women's doubles title at the Second Leg of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) National Under-21 (U-21) Championships 2026 in Kuantan, today.
According to a statement by BAM, Nuraqilah-Xin Yee weathered a stern challenge from national teammates Dania Sofea Zaidi-Tan Zhing Hui before prevailing 14-16, 15-10, 15-11 in a thrilling final that lasted close to an hour.
Meanwhile, second seed Oo Shan Zhi claimed the women's singles crown as she pulled off an upset over top seed and BAM teammate Lim Zhi Shin 15-6, 19-17 in 35 minutes.
In the men's singles final, Muhammad Haziq Mohd Najib of Selangor produced another upset by defeating BAM's Roslie Razeeq Danial 15-10, 15-7 to clinch his first national title of the year.
The men's doubles title went to the partnership of Muhammad Nur Azhar Zunaide of Sabah and Siau Yu Hang of Johor, who upset top seeds Nixon Ang Jia Shen-Shim Hymns Isaiah 15-10, 15-12 in 43 minutes.
In another all-BAM final, Tan Zhi Yang-Vannee Gobi rallied from a set down to beat Nicole Tan Pei En-Loh Ziheng 13-15, 15-11, 15-12 to seal the mixed doubles title after an hour-long battle.
