KUANTAN, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) lecturer Prof Ir Dr Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff has been appointed as the deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and International) of the university effective December 1.
In a media statement here today, UMP announced Wan Azhar was replacing Prof Datuk Dr Rosli Mohd Yunus whose two-year term ended.
UMP vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Daing Nasir Ibrahim in a statement said the appointed of Wan Azhar would see him assisting UMP to continue its excellent and outstanding achievement as a leading engineering and technology university in the country and globally.
He also thanked Rosli for his service for putting UMP among the best universities in Asia.
"Being on the right track, UMP needs to ensure the formation of more innovative academic curriculum supported by competent and professional staff as well as more efficient academic infrastructure oriented to the industry and community,” he said.
Wan Azhar who hailed from Pasir Putih, Kelantan qualified with a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, U.S. in 1990.
He also holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, U.S. (1992) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Advanced Manufacturing Technology) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (2004).
