IPOH, July 24 (Bernama) -- Want to have a fun digital experience? Come over to the massive Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout, Meru Raya for the Malaysia Digital Adventure (MDA) 2019, this weekend.
The digital-based carnival organised by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia in conjunction with the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day celebration will be held for two days from July 27, 10am to 10pm, and entrance is free of charge.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo is expected to officiate at MDA 2019 this Saturday.
Among the many interesting events to be held are 'E-Sport Fifa 19' which is expected to see 64 participants, drone race and live telecast of the FA Cup 2019 final between Perak and Kedah at the main stage on July 27.
Family activities to be featured include face painting, busking, karaoke competition, and drawing and colouring contest, while online shoppers stand to get a RM10 voucher from Shoppe, with the vouchers limited to 1,000 visitors.
Other activities include Zumba with actress Nadia Brian, performances by Ameng Spring, Andi Bernadee and Naim Daniel, and a special appearance by social media influencer, Sterk Production.
About 50 exhibitors comprising broadband service providers, manufacturers and distributors of ICT hardware and software, as well as federal and state government agencies will take part in the MDA event.
Among the objectives of MDA is to create and raise awareness among the public on the benefits of broadband infrastructure and its importance.
MDA also aims to provide digital exposure to the public, create new job/business opportunities for youth through online businesses, thereby promoting involvement in the digital economy.
It is also a platform for the public to learn more about online services provided by government agencies.
Meanwhile, Perak Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman, Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim said the event’s location in Meru was in line with the state government's intention to make it a smart city.
He urged Perakians, especially industry players to come to MDA as it involves a huge digital network, thus giving them more opportunities to grow.
