KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) recorded 8.6 million passenger movements for its airports in the country last month, a 2.2 per cent year-on-year growth spurred by its highest-ever monthly international passenger traffic.
In a statement, the company said the international sector recorded 4.6 million passengers with a growth of 5.1 per cent, which was achieved with an average load factor of 78.4 per cent – the highest for the year.
Meanwhile, the domestic sector continued to be in the negative territory, declining by 1.0 per cent with 4.0 million passengers.
MAHB's overall network of airports, including Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (Istanbul SGIA), posted 11.9 million passenger movements last month, up 4.2 per cent over July 2017.
Istanbul SGIA passengers grew by 9.8 per cent over the same month last year to 3.3 million passengers. The airport achieved a record performance in passenger movements for both the international and domestic sectors.
MAHB's airports in Malaysia saw international passenger movements for ASEAN destinations growing by 4.7 per cent to 2.2 million while non-ASEAN passenger movements registered a growth of 5.4 per cent with 2.3 million passengers.....
