07/03/2019 06:12 PM

KOTA KINABALU, March 7 (Bernama) -- The Sabah state government is keen to work with the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Foundation to boost investments in the state and expand its global business network.

Chairman Tun Musa Hitam said the interest was expressed by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal during his courtesy on the chief minister here today.

He said the state government viewed WIEF’s good relations with business and investment communities from around the world as an advantage that could further boost the state’s trade and economic development.

“He (Mohd Shafie) is very interested (to work with WIEF),” he told reporters after the courtesy call.

Musa said Sabah had a lot of resources that could be used to attract investors and the foundation was willing to help the state government connect with business and investment communities across the world.

WIEF is an organisation that seeks to enhance the economic well-being of Muslim nations through encouraging trade and business opportunities not only among themselves but also the world at large through the hosting of forums and conferences around the world.
