KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (Bernama) -- The Youth and Sports Ministry today announced the appointment of national motor racing ace Jazeman Jaafar as a member of the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) board of directors.
Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said in his official statement that the 26-year-old’s appointment was an historic step in the involvement of youngsters.
“As promised, there will be more appointments among the younger generation who will be directly involved in sports governance.
“His experience will definitely be used to tackle the challenges faced by the country’s motor sports industry,” he said.
Jazeman, who has been involved in the motor sports industry since he was six years old, captured his first World Endurance Championship title with the national team in the LMP2 category in the 6 Hours of Fuji race at the Fuji Speedway in Japan in October last year.
Based on his experience, Jazeman can inspire the younger generation to take up motor sports not only as a hobby but also as a career.
