SHAH ALAM, Sept 12 -- Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is also Bersatu chairman, today joined hundreds of party members in reciting the Yasin and prayers in conjunction with Bersatu’s third anniversary.
The ceremony was held at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque here, and was also attended by members of the public.
Dr Mahathir, who arrived at the mosque at about 7 pm, was welcomed by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Home Minister, and accompanied by party deputy president and Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
The ceremony began with Maghrib prayers led by the mosque’s imam, Sheikh Abdul Karim Omar Al-Makki, followed by the recital of Yasin and Doa Selamat, and ending with the Isyak prayers.
Also present at the event were Bersatu vice-president and Selangor Bersatu chairman Datuk Abdul Rashid Ansari, Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik.
Dr Mahathir then attended a dinner and speech programme held at the Shah Alam Independence Square, near the mosque.
