RLIR: Team Hollywood closing in on 2020 title

10/01/2020 06:32 PM

LANGKAWI, Jan 10 -- Team Hollywood of Australia are now in a comfortable position to bag the Racing class title in the 18th Royal Langkawi International Regatta (RLIR) concluding tomorrow.

The team helmed by Ray Roberts continued to exhibit their fine sailing prowess when they ended three Harbour races today in the first place by collecting only eight penalty points after finishing nine of the 10 races and leaving the four other challengers far behind.

The nearest competitor, THA72 of Thailand collected 18 penalty points followed by efileConnect of Netherlands (19 penalty points) , Windsikher of Singapore (29 penalty points) and Zuhal of Malaysia with 40 penalty points.

Meanwhile, chances for THA72 skippered by Don Whitcraft to snatch the championship they won in 2017 and 2018 are fast diminishing as the team is far behind Team Hollywood.

In the IRC1 class, the attempt by Mata Hari KL Registry captained by Vincent Chan to take the top position and claim their sixth consecutive title faded when they finished the three races today in the second, third and fourth places with 18 penalty points.

Meanwhile team Char Chan of Japan headed by Kazuki Kihara continued to shine in the category's races today and led the pack with nine penalty points, followed by Meraki in third place with 22.5 penalty points while Uminoko of Russia took the last slot with 26.5 penalty points.
