KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 -- Police are searching for a local man who disguised himself as a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) contractor to “inspect” premises before stealing valuables and cash.
Kajang district police chief ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusoff said the 30-year-old man was believed to have deceived his victims by introducing himself as a contractor of the national power company before seeking permission to inspect the electricity metre at the targeted premises.
“The suspect will ask to switch off the electricity metre and ask all workers or owners at the premises to leave to avoid getting injured during the ‘inspection’ process. The suspect will search the premises and steal valuables and cash,” he said in a statement here today.
He said investigations showed that the suspect had also introduced himself as a building contractor and a representative of the developer to inspect buildings.
Ahmad Dzafir said four police reports had been lodged over such cases which occurred since December last year.
Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to contact the Kajang District Police Headquarters at 03-89114222.
