Israeli Embassy opens in Abu Dhabi - Foreign Ministry

25/01/2021 11:43 AM

TEL AVIV, Jan 25 -- An Israeli Embassy has opened in the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), following the normalisation of ties between the two countries, the Israeli Foreign Ministry has announced.

"Today the Israeli embassy in Abu Dhabi has officially been opened, with the arrival of the mission head Eitan Naeh," the ministry said in a Sunday statement obtained by Sputnik.

According to the release, the Israeli embassy plans to advance UAE-Israeli relations on all levels, improving ties with the leadership, economic structures and the private sector.

The embassy plans to work at temporary office locations until a permanent location for the diplomatic mission is found.

Earlier on Sunday, the UAE government approved the opening of its embassy in Tel Aviv.

Following the signing of a landmark US-mediated peace agreement between the UAE and Israel in September, the two nations have been seeking ways to promote and advance bilateral cooperation in many areas, including energy, agriculture, tourism and investment.
