MAIS urges Muslims in Malaysia to perform solat hajat for Palestine

20/05/2021 05:54 PM

SHAH ALAM, May 20 -- The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) calls on Muslims to perform solat hajat (prayer of need) and recite qunut nazilah to pray for the well-being of the Palestinian people.

MAIS chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the council expressed solidarity for the Malaysian Government along with Indonesia and Brunei in issuing a statement to strongly condemn the Israeli military attack on Palestinians in defending Al-Aqsa Mosque as a Muslim holy site and the first qibla (direction of prayer) of the Muslims.

"MAIS also hopes that Muslims in Malaysia, especially in Selangor, will support the agenda of liberating the Palestinian state from the atrocities and aggression of the Zionist army," he said in a statement today.

Abdul Aziz said since 2012, MAIS together with its strategic partners, the Islamic Non-Governmental Organisations (PIBKs) registered under MAIS, had held various activities and outreach programmes as well as raised funds for Muslims at home and abroad.

MAIS also recognised the experience of several PIBKs that had earlier implemented aid programmes and missions to help disaster-hit  Muslim communities including in Palestine.

"Among the 96 MAIS PIBKs that are active in providing support to the Palestinians are the Selangor Branch of the Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement, Islamic Relief Malaysia, MCG (World Muslim Lovers Organisation @ Muslim Care Global), Malaysian Muslim Brotherhood Association, Muslim Welfare Foundation (MyFundAction), Humanitarian Care Malaysia, Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association (MACMA), Aman Palestin Berhad and Muslim Care Malaysia Society and HALUAN," he said.

He also thanked and welcomed the concern of MAIS PIBKs as well as the public who had always been supporting and praying for the safety of the Palestinian people.

All these efforts are very meaningful for the Palestinian people, he added.
