KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has welcomed the announcement by the Saudi Arabian Government to lift several restrictions related to COVID-19, including travel, physical distancing, rapid antigen testing and mandatory quarantine for entry into the country.

TH group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin said TH was confident that the Saudi Arabian Government had looked into various aspects to ensure the safety of the residents there as well as Umrah and Hajj pilgrims.

"The was made following the improved COVID-19 situation in the country. However, locals and foreign tourists still have to wear face masks in closed areas," he said in a statement today.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health recently announced the lifting of several COVID-19 restrictions, including mandatory quarantine for all visitors to the country.

The move comes following a drop in cases in the country and a vaccination rate of 99 per cent involving all residents aged 12 and above.
