KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 (Bernama) -- United States Secretary of State Antony J Blinken held a conversation with Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah on Friday, discussing their commitment to advancing peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price in a statement said both of them also shared perspectives on the development of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, which will advance broad-based economic growth across the region and reviewed their coordination on the Kremlin’s war against Ukraine.

The statement was made available through the department's website.

At least 1,611 civilians have been killed since Russia started a war against Ukraine on Feb 24, and 2,227 injured, according to UN estimates, with the true figure feared to be far higher.

More than 4.3 million Ukrainians have fled to other countries, with millions more internally displaced, according to the UN refugee agency.
