KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 (Bernama) -- Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) have gone top of the Premier League after beating PDRM FC 5-1 at the Pasir Gudang City Council Stadium in Johor tonight.
It was clearly a tale of two halves, as both teams went into the break without a goal, although PDRM had a good chance to take the lead earlier on.
JDT II finally broke the deadlock through import player Bienvenido Morejon Maranon in the 46th minute.
Mohamed Syamer Kutty Abba then headed in a goal in the 55th minute, doubling the lead for Mariano Raul Echeverria’s squad.
JDT II's relentless attack continued to put pressure on the visitors, as Fernando Rodriguez Ortega scored the third goal in the 66th minute, followed by another from Gabriel Nistelrooy Tamin two minutes later.
PDRM finally managed to get past the JDT II’s defence and score a goal in the 72nd minute through Martin Adamec, but Maranon's goal in the 88th minute was the icing on the cake for the home side.
Meanwhile, UiTM FC are still yet to find their first victory in the Premier League this season as they lost 0-2 at home to Kuching City FC.
The visitors scored their first in the 24th minute through Wan Mohammad Faiz Wan Sulaiman, while substitute Amir Amri Salleh added the second in the dying seconds of the match.
Meanwhile, in the sole Super League match of the night, Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC lost 1-2 to Sri Pahang FC at the Kuala Lumpur Stadium, Cheras here.
Sri Pahang FC opened the scoring through Nor Azam Azih in the 32nd minute before Manuel Hidalgo doubled the lead through a penalty kick in the 78th minute.
KL managed to pull one back through Paulo Josué in the 86th minute, but it was too little, too late for the home side to get anything out of the game.
