Mppwp Helps Communities Achieve Malaysia Madani Agenda

PUTRAJAYA, July 25 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Residents Representative Council (MPPWP) plays a role in empowering communities to achieve the value of sustainability and well-being in the MADANI Malaysia agenda, based on a dynamic composition aligned to the representation of the zones represented.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said the dynamic composition of the MPPWP is inclusive and takes into account the purpose of representation as well as certain criteria covering different races, genders and backgrounds.

He said the Malaysia MADANI concept introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim referred to building a group of communities that were progressive in spirituality, thought and matter, with a focus on community welfare and living in major cities, especially in the Federal Territories.

"In this regard, the function and role of the resident representative councils (MPP) in the development of the MADANI community as a link between the government and the people of the Federal Territory is crucial.

"The MPP not only functions as an appointed official body, but must act as a beacon or a house of light in a society full of turbulence and challenges," he said in a statement in conjunction with the MPPWP appointment letters for 2023/2024 here today.

Mohd Zuki said MPPWP members should take advantage of digital technology to ensure that every government policy, programme and agenda can be effectively communicated to residents in the Federal Territories.

He said that various increasingly sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI)-based applications are mushrooming, such as the ChatGPT application, which is capable of providing voice texts, WhatsApp messages or short message systems (SMS) that are delivered or disseminated in a more organised and systematic manner to residents under the MPP's purview.

The MPPWP appointments cover 13 zones and 77 sub-zones in 13 parliamentary constituencies in the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

The MPPWP was established in 2010 with the aim of promoting community development in a multiracial society.
