YBR Honours 200 IPT Graduates For Academic Excellence

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- A total of 200 graduates from Higher Learning Institutions (IPT) were recognised at the Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) Academic Excellence Award Ceremony here today, for their outstanding achievements in academics.

The awards were given to 150 Bachelor's Degree graduates and 50 Master's graduates who obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 and above.

A cash allocation of RM200,000 from YBR was given to each recipient, namely RM1,000 each along with a certificate in appreciation of their success in completing their studies from January 2022 to August 2024.

Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) Datuk Ewon Benedick, who officiated the ceremony, hoped that the award would motivate students to continue to achieve academic excellence.

"This initiative to some extent encourages young people to achieve higher levels of education in building a brighter future," he said at the ceremony which was also attended by YBR Chief Executive Officer, Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani.

Meanwhile, Yayasan Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Philip Benedict Lasimbang said the RM1,000 reward was a sign of appreciation for the hard work of the graduates.

"Hopefully this award will inspire students who are still continuing their studies and is a sign of YBR's support in the education agenda to produce skilled human capital for the country," he said at the ceremony.

In the same ceremony, YBR also handed out laptops to the 25 best matriculation students sponsored by YBR who will continue their studies at the Bachelor's Degree level. 

The collaboration between YBR and the Matriculation Division of the Ministry of Education Malaysia (BMKPM) has started since 2022, with a total of 75 of the best matriculation students receiving YBR scholarships so far.
