KOTA KINABALU, Feb 10 -- The Sabah Football Association (SAFA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Sports Council (NSC) today to spur the development of football in the state.
SAFA president Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said that under the MoU, SAFA and NSC would work together to implement several programmes to unearth new football talent in the state.
“SAFA had previously implemented this programme previously. With NSC’s cooperation, we will have assistance in terms of funds, including skilled manpower in developing football in Sabah," he told reporters after the MoU signing ceremony here today.
Bung Moktar represented SAFA while NSC Sports Development Division Director Mohd Safrushahar Yusoff represented the council.
Bung Moktar, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister, football development in Sabah would start from the district level in accordance with their plans.
"We will be looking for players from the youth stage to be developed and the NSC obviously has the expertise in scouting for new talent of real quality," he added.
