FRANKFURT, Aug 11 (Bernama-dpa) -- Monthly passenger traffic at Frankfurt Airport has exceeded more than 6 million for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, reported German Press Agency (dpa) quoting airport operator Fraport on Friday.
Germany's busiest aviation hub experienced a 20 per cent year-on-year increase in July.
But the airport's recovery to pre-pandemic levels continues, however, with passenger traffic still 13 per cent lower as compared to July 2019. The shortfall in May was 17.5 per cent and in June 15.6 per cent.
In the cargo business, the volume of freight and airmail increased in July after a prolonged period of declines. A total of 164,503 tons were handled in Frankfurt, about 1 per cent more than a year earlier.
