IPOH, July 11 (Bernama) -- The state government, through Tourism Perak, has allocated RM4.61 million to implement programmes and upgrade facilities and infrastructure across the state in conjunction with Visit Perak Year (VPY) 2024.
State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee said of that amount, RM3.49 million was allocated for infrastructure upgrades, while RM1.12 million was dedicated to implementing programmes across all districts.
“All these projects and events will be implemented by local authorities, with some events organised in collaboration with non-governmental organisations and the local community,” he said during the question and answer session at the Perak State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.
He said this in response to a question from Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad (PN-Bota) about the state government’s allocations for promoting VPY 2024 in every district.
Loh said one of the programmes organised for VPY 2024 included a cycling event along Sungai Perak.
“The accommodation, managed by Sayong Resort, includes a meal package at the hotel located on the banks of Sungai Sayong,” he said.
Meanwhile, Loh said that authorities such as the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) and Tourism Malaysia are expected to release state tourism expenditure data in August or September this year.
