MALAYSIA PRODUCTIVITY CORPORATION (MPC) is committed to boosting Malaysia’s logistics industry productivity through the Logistics Productivity Nexus (LPN), one of the government’s initiatives under the 12th Malaysia Plan to boost national productivity and economic growth. 

In a statement, MPC director-general Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman said this could be achieved by linking to the relevant regulators and authorities in addressing logistics issues and challenges towards a conducive business environment.

Meanwhile, Productivity Nexus Logistics champion, Datuk Seri Dr Michael Tio said LPN’s key focus is to build comprehensive knowledge among the industry players and enhance their skill sets by forming a productive synergy with the local higher learning institutions to organise logistic management programmes and related courses.

HONG LEONG ASSET MANAGEMENT BHD (HONG LEONG AM) has declared a gross income distribution of six sen per unit for the Hong Leong Asia Pacific Equity Fund (HLAPEF) for the period of Jan 1-July 31, 2022.

HLAPEF is managed by Hong Leong AM’s external fund manager - Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management (Hong Kong) Ltd (SMDAMHK), a wholly-owned overseas subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management Company Ltd.

“Tapping into SMDAMHK’s investment capabilities and knowledge, it is our belief that the fund will see potential sustainable growth, especially during the volatile period, said Hong Leong AM chief executive officer Hoo See Kheng in a statement today.

The fund is distributed through Hong Leong AM offices, Hong Leong Bank Bhd’s branches nationwide and digitally via HL iSmart Invest.

CIMB ISLAMIC BANK BHD (CIMB ISLAMIC) has contributed RM520,000 towards the establishment of Rumah Rakyat CIMB Islamic, a halfway house within the vicinity of Hospital Sultanah Maliha in Langkawi, Kedah.

The halfway house would serve as a temporary accommodation facility for relatives of patients receiving treatment at the hospital, especially those residing in Pulau Tuba and other neighbouring islands who need to travel long distances, it said in a statement today.

Chief executive officer Ahmad Shahriman Mohd Shariff said the bank hopes its contribution can alleviate some of the burden faced by the B40 communities in Langkawi and the surrounding islands.

TELEPORT, the logistics venture of Capital A (formerly AirAsia Group Bhd) has announced the expansion of its fleet today with the addition of three Airbus A321 Freighters (A321F).

This increases Teleport’s cargo-only fleet to four freighters in total, in addition to over 200 exclusive AirAsia passenger aircraft belly, it said in a statement today.

It is a timely and strategic move on our part to complement our exclusive AirAsia passenger belly planes with a freighter network to expand and reinforce our increased capacity for key markets like China and India into ASEAN,” said Teleport chief executive officer Pete Chareonwongsak.

The three A321Fs will be operated by AirAsia, and will be delivered in stages starting from the first quarter of 2023.

MALAYSIA EXTERNAL TRADE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (MATRADE) has launched a virtual learning platform, known as the MATRADE Digital Learning (MDL) to enhance Malaysian companies, including the micro, small and medium enterprises’ (MSMEs) export knowledge and skills in the halal industry.

In a statement chief executive officer, Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said digitalisation is one of MATRADE’s main agendas in ensuring the sustainability of the MSMEs’ export business and minimising the impact of the disruption in the global supply chain. 

The MDL offers 13 practical modules, encompassing the basic exporting guide right up to how to fulfil market demands and succeed in exploring targeted foreign markets.
