OLDTOWN WHITE COFFEE PLANS TO ROLL OUT 50 MOBILE KIOSKS NEXT YEAR

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 18 (Bernama) — Mobile kiosks or push carts under the Oldtown White Coffee brand will be the latest product of the franchise chain, with a target of 50 mobile kiosks to be opened next year, said Kopitiam Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Dawn Liew.

She said the mobile kiosk prototype had been developed in conjunction with the recent 19th edition of the Malaysia International Halal Exhibition (Mihas) 2023.

Liew said the mobile kiosk, measuring 150 square feet and requiring business capital as low as RM200,000 to operate depending on the location of the kiosk, will be placed where people are concentrated such as public transport stations, office buildings and stadiums.

“We believe it is achievable (50 mobile kiosks) and this also means that a franchisee can have more than one push cart,” she told Bernama after the 18th-anniversary celebration of Oldtown White Coffee here today.

Oldtown White Coffee is a trademark of Kopitiam Asia Pacific.

Liew said the kiosk can be moved from one location to another and is equipped with food and beverage preparation facilities.

“Among the food items that will be sold are nasi lemak, bihun goreng, various types of bread and also three types of drinks.

“Our main kitchen (central kitchen) is also able to supply food on a regular basis to the kiosks so that they don't have to keep a lot of stock on the premises,” Liew said.

She also said the company is close to reaching its target of opening 50 new Oldtown White Coffee branches this year and the capital to work on a franchise business package for the Oldtown White Coffee outlet is between RM800,000 and RM1 million. 

“So far, we have 34 outlets that we already committed in Malaysia and eight outlets in Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Indonesia. We are close to the target,” Liew said.

She said several outlets will also be opened in Kedah and Penang in the near future besides adding more outlets in Kelantan, which currently has three Oldtown White Coffee outlets.
