KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) is optimistic about generating more revenue in 2024 versus the RM1.39 billion achieved as of end-November this year, said chairman Datuk Roslan Abdul Rahman.

He said better performance can be achieved via measures to be undertaken by MyCEB’s new management to intensify its activities next year.

He said under the new chief executive officer Azman Tambi Chik who has extensive experience in the corporate sector, the Tourism, Art and Culture Ministry’s agency would be able to implement measures that contribute to the national economy.

"This year, MyCEB generated more than RM1.39 billion in terms of the entry of international conventions (into Malaysia). I believe this figure was commendable and it can be higher (next year)," he told reporters at the MyCEB media briefing here today.

Meanwhile, Azman said the agency would bid for more international conventions to be held in Malaysia in line with its mission to make the country a business event hub in Southeast Asia.

He said in tandem with the directions from the Tourism, Art and Culture Minister, MyCEB would focus more on China and India, besides countries in the Middle East, following the government's decision to grant tourists from India and China to stay in Malaysia for up to 30 days beginning Dec 1, 2023 visa-free.
