BURSA MALAYSIA REMAINS LOWER AT MID-AFTERNOON ON PERSISTENT SELLING

KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-afternoon on continuous selling in selected heavyweights led by Petronas Chemicals and Axiata Group, said an analyst. 

Petronas Chemicals slipped 12 sen to RM6.40 and Axiata Group shed six sen to RM2.54, dragging the composite index down by a combined 2.56 points. 

At 3.05 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 6.42 points to 1,584.53 from Wednesday's close of 1,590.95.

The benchmark index opened 0.58 of-a-point firmer at 1,591.53.

On the broader market, decliners trounced gainers 724 to 293, while 449 counters were unchanged, 975 untraded and 73 others suspended. 

Turnover amounted to 3.06 billion units worth RM1.84 billion.

Among other heavyweights, Tenaga Nasional, Public Bank, CIMB, and IHH Healthcare were all flat at RM13.92, RM4.01, RM6.76 and RM6.27, respectively. 

Meanwhile, Maybank eased four sen to RM9.92. 

Among the actives, YNH Property slipped 10.0 sen to 50.5 sen, MY E.G. shed 4.5 sen to 97.5 sen, Dagang NeXchange declined two sen to 44.5 sen, and Ingenieur Gudang eased half-a-sen to six sen. 

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index declined 49.36 points to 12,161.39, the FBMT 100 Index gave up 46.08 points to 11,746.26, the FBM Emas Shariah Index dropped 64.04 points to 12,503.50, the FBM 70 Index tumbled 64.03 points to 17,724.83, and the FBM ACE Index shed 33.07 points to 5,690.24.

Sector-wise, the Energy Index dipped 6.75 points to 953.24, the Industrial Products and Services Index eased by 1.19 points to 195.65, the Plantation Index slipped by 17.71 points to 6,970.22, and the Financial Services Index slid 54.95 points to 17,390.28.
