12/07/2024 11:00 AM

SEREMBAN, July 12 (Bernama) -- Property developer GD Group will be developing the Sikamat Industrial Park in Negeri Sembilan’s Malaysia Vision Valley growth area.

It will span 49.37 hectares (122 acres) and will have a gross development value of close to RM320 million.

In a statement yesterday, deputy executive chairman Datuk Wong Seng Tong said the flagship development, designed to accommodate a diverse range of industries, “aims to create international collaboration and economic growth through a strategic partnership with Foshan, China.”

"Our vision is to strengthen ties between Majlis Bandaraya Seremban and Foshan. The project will serve as a model for global cooperation and provide ASEAN and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries with access to the Chinese market.

"We seek to promote mutual economic prosperity and cultural exchange via this initiative, laying the groundwork for future Malaysia-China city agreements," he said in his speech at the development’s groundbreaking ceremony here today.

“Our mission is to develop an industrial complex that supports seamless cross-border business operations, leveraging robust infrastructure and strategic support to facilitate the flow of Southeast Asian products into China to reach a market of 1.4 billion people,” a statement said.

The development will have 20 semi-detached factory units, 40 double-storey commercial shop lots and 38 land parcels for customised factories with ready infrastructure, the statement said.

There are also plans to include a centralised labour quarter in phase two of the development to accommodate up to 3,000 workers, Wong said.

“It will be an ideal location for both local and international businesses and is set to redefine industrial parks with its focus on environmental, social, and governance, advanced infrastructure, and commitment to sustainability," he said.

Also present at the event was the Foshan Municipal Committee head of the United Front Work Department Ding Xi Feng and the State Executive Councillor’s industrialisation committee chairman Teo Kok Seong.

Representing Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, Teo said the project could attract investors to strengthen the state as a prime investment destination.

"The development will be a new economic driver and is expected to create job opportunities in the manufacturing and services sectors," he said.
