MATRADE Organises Knowledge Hub To Assist Local Companies Seize Opportunities In Global Halal Market

06/09/2024 12:28 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will again organise its Knowledge Hub programme as part of its thought leadership initiatives during this year’s Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS).

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, said the global market for goods and services is projected to reach US$5 trillion (RM23.54 trillion) by 2030, which underscores the potential for Malaysian companies to be part of the global halal supply chains.

“Therefore, during MIHAS, we are dedicated to using the Knowledge Hub programme to equip our companies with the necessary knowledge and tools to seize the growing opportunities in the global halal market.

“In line with MIHAS 2024’s theme, ‘Globalising Halal Innovations’, the Knowledge Hub will bring together industry experts, policymakers, and business leaders to offer insights on sourcing requirements, opportunities, challenges, and the latest trends reshaping the global halal market,” he said in a statement today.

Reezal Merican noted that the Knowledge Hub serves as an important platform for Malaysian exporters to enrich their industry insights and exchange ideas to better understand as well as capitalise on the evolving global halal market.

He added that initiatives like the Knowledge Hub would enhance MIHAS’ value and support Malaysia’s strategic efforts to position itself as a central hub in global halal supply chains and a thought leader in areas such as international market trends, innovation, and sustainability practices.

Meanwhile, MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz encouraged Malaysian companies to take the opportunity to participate, as the sessions will highlight practical strategies to help them maintain their competitive advantage.

The agency noted that this year’s Knowledge Hub will feature four “Meet the Experts” panel sessions led by leaders of trade associations and business chambers.

“These sessions will provide participants with the opportunity to interact directly with market specialists, including premium buyers who will offer crucial market intelligence for navigating the complexities of the global Halal market.

“The sessions will include industry experts and premium buyers from key markets such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Kazakhstan, the USA, Turkiye, Ireland, New Zealand, and Indonesia,” he said.

The Knowledge Hub programme is scheduled for Sept 19, 2024, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, coinciding with MIHAS, which will run at the same venue from Sept 17-20, 2024.
