KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- The General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM) has appointed Chua Kim Soon as its new chief executive officer, succeeding Julie Lean Gim Chong, effective Oct 7, 2024.
PIAM chairman Ng Kok Kheng expressed confidence in Chua's ability to advance PIAM’s vision as a dynamic trade association and emphasised the importance of close collaboration with stakeholders to support various industry initiatives.
According to the association, Chua is a seasoned professional with over 40 years of extensive experience in the insurance industry. He has demonstrated comprehensive business acumen and versatile leadership skills while successfully managing business units and operations across Singapore, India, and Malaysia.
“His career highlights include leading greenfield business ventures, executing mergers and acquisitions, and overseeing strategic planning, business transformation, and international operations.
“Chua's focus on catering to diverse clients and distribution channels in both the life and general insurance sectors has provided him with a global perspective and a deep understanding of various market dynamics,” it said in a statement.
Chua's distinguished career includes roles as chief operations officer at Gibraltar BSN Life Bhd, head of agency at ACE Jerneh Insurance Bhd, chief executive officer at AXA Insurance Singapore Pte Ltd, and chief operating officer at Bharti AXA General Insurance Co Ltd (India).
