KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd has announced the recommencement of the Prihatin Programme for Flood to support eligible financing customers affected by recent floods.

In a statement today, the bank said affected house, personal, and vehicle financing customers can apply for a deferment of up to six months on their monthly instalments, subject to the terms and conditions set.

Additionally, Bank Islam is offering a Disaster Relief Facility financing program for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in flood-affected districts identified by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

"Under this facility, eligible MSMEs can secure funding to repair or replace business assets, such as manufacturing plants and machinery damaged by floods, as well as for essential working capital," the bank said.

Bank Islam noted that a moratorium of up to six months is also available to existing MSME customers in districts identified by NADMA as flood disaster areas.

"Financial assistance is open to all credit facilities with scheduled or contractually due payments, including term financing facilities, revolving credit, cash line facilities and trade facilities.

"Applications for relief under the Prihatin Programme for Flood can be made at any Bank Islam branch within three months of the incident," it added.

Group chief executive officer, Datuk Mohd Muazzam Mohamed said the bank has been closely monitoring the situation in affected areas.

"The well-being of the community remains Bank Islam’s priority. We hope the Prihatin Programme for Flood and the Disaster Relief Facility financing program for MSMEs will help relieve customers' anxieties over their financial commitment during this trying time," he said.
