16/01/2025 05:50 PM

PETALING JAYA, Jan 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s property development sector holds great potential for the future, but its success hinges on the significance of strategic collaborations, said Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying.

She stated that joint efforts involving the government, industry, and academia are crucial to tackling major challenges and promoting sustainable development.

“I am confident about the bright future of Malaysia’s property development sector. Together, the government, industry, and academia, we can build a more sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous Malaysia,” she said when delivering a keynote address at the CEO Series: Economy & Business Forum 2025 event today.

Furthermore, Lim said the annual property developers' conference also plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Malaysia's property development sector.

“This conference is a testament to Malaysia’s commitment to showcasing its potential on the global stage.

“With Malaysia set to chair ASEAN in 2025, events like these reinforce the country’s standing as a leader in the region,” she said.

Lim said platforms like the CEO Series are indispensable for fostering productive dialogue between the government and industry players.

“These conversations are crucial for refining policies and shaping the future.

“Since its inception in 2016, this series has been a cornerstone for industries ranging from construction and banking to hospitality, manufacturing, and property development -- receiving extensive media coverage and driving meaningful impact,” she said.

Meanwhile, Lim lauded REHDA Institute’s dedication to training, research, and education as it partners with esteemed universities such as Universiti Malaya, Monash University and Sunway University.

“I commend REHDA Institute for its unwavering commitment to ensuring that educational programmes remain industry-relevant.

“I urge you to continue forging partnerships, particularly in research, to elevate university capabilities, enhance graduate readiness, and raise Malaysia’s standing on the global stage,” she said.

The REHDA Institute CEO Series 2025 gathers over 350 senior stakeholders, including representatives from private sector associations and government authorities.
