Allianz General Offers Comprehensive Property Protection With Smart Home Cover

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 24 (Bernama) -- Allianz Malaysia Bhd, through its subsidiary Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Bhd, is offering a wide range of coverage add-ons to suit customers' property protection needs through its Smart Home Cover policy.

In a statement today, the company said the add-ons include HomeFix coverage, which covers home repair costs, and landlord insurance, which protects against malicious damage by a tenant or runaway tenant.

“These add-ons can be purchased on top of the building (HouseOwner) or contents (HouseHolder) coverage under the Allianz Smart Home Cover policy,” it said.

Allianz said depending on the budget, customers can choose between an annual plan with yearly renewals or a multi-year plan, which offers a single premium payment for hassle-free three-year coverage while enjoying lower premiums across all components.

Allianz General chief sales officer Horst Habbig advised homeowners to thoroughly review their policies to ensure adequate coverage aligned with their budget and needs.

He pointed out that homeowners with fire insurance typically obtain it through their housing loan, however, this coverage is limited, as it primarily protects the building structure, leaving high-value household contents such as sofas, televisions, and washing machines uninsured.

“Home insurance in Malaysia typically consists of coverage for both the building and the content. This coverage is not just limited to fire damage but also safeguards your home and belongings against a wide range of risks, such as floods and theft.

“Homeowners should take the time to thoroughly review their policies, to ensure they have adequate coverage that aligns with their budget and needs,” Habbig added.
