KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Peneraju has launched a new financing scheme that will see funds disbursed directly to individuals instead of learning and training institutions.
The initiative, announced today, marks a shift in the foundation’s approach after 13 years of making payments directly to the institutions.
Under the new scheme, eligible bumiputera applicants will receive financial aid and be responsible for paying their chosen institutions, provided that they are approved by the foundation.
Chief executive officer Ibrahim Sani said the shift was introduced to provide greater flexibility, allowing individuals to have complete control over their education.
He said there are three financing options, namely silver, gold, and platinum.
“The silver package offers a one-time scholarship of up to RM15,000 for certification and training, with funds disbursed directly to the applicant.
“The gold package, structured as a loan, provides up to RM30,000 with multiple applications allowed, provided that the applicant completes their prior certification and repays 50 per cent of the amount received,” he told reporters at the launch of the scheme here today.
Ibrahim further said that the platinum package offers financing of up to RM150,000, making it more suitable for SPM school leavers looking to pursue the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants or the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales qualifications at institutions approved by the foundation.
He said the platinum package typically covers a four- to five-year study period, with recipients being required to repay 20 per cent of the total amount.
“However, if they pass all their examinations, the loan will be converted into a full scholarship.
“We also encourage working professionals to utilise the platinum package for certifications such as chartered financial analyst or project management professional, as these credentials hold greater value compared to other certifications,” he said.
Ibrahim noted that applications open today and will remain available nationwide throughout the year for all bumiputera individuals aged 16 and above.
”We are initially launching 22 certification programmes, and by April 27, one day after the announcement of the SPM results, the number will expand to over 200. I urge applicants to check our website regularly for updates on available programmes.
”This year, we have significantly increased our education financing allocation, tripling the number of beneficiaries. Specifically, we are targeting 1,500 school leavers, up from 500 in previous years,” he said.
Meanwhile, Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, who attended the event, praised Yayasan Peneraju’s expanding role in talent development.
“By integrating industry-driven certifications and providing flexible financial support, Yayasan Peneraju is ensuring that our workforce is not only skilled but also future-ready.
“This approach provides a liberated, self-curated talent development experience, empowering individuals to take charge of their educational and career paths,” he said.
