GUA MUSANG, April 25 (Bernama) -- An elderly man was killed after the vehicle he was driving hit a guardrail at Jalan Persiaran Raya, Taman Damar here, last night.
Gua Musang district police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said the victim, identified as Omar Hassan, 85, died at the scene of the incident due to head and body injuries.
He said the victim, driving a Proton Saga car, was travelling from Bentong, Pahang, towards Gua Musang.
“The Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Gua Musang district police headquarters (IPD) received a report at 11.10 pm about a vehicle that had hit a guardrail along Taman Damar road,” he said in a statement today.
Sik said the victim's remains were taken to the Gua Musang Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem and the cause of death was due to excessive bleeding due to an injury to the lung as a result of the accident.
He said that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
According to him, further investigations are still underway and the police are asking the public who have information about the incident to contact the Gua Musang IPD’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at 09-912 1222 or the investigating officer at 013-301 0408.
