AADK DETAINS 168 INDIVIDUALS BELIEVED TO BE DRUG ADDICTS

SHAH ALAM, June 12 (Bernama) -- The Selangor National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) detained 168 individuals believed to be drug addicts during ‘Operasi Pengesanan Orang Yang Disyaki’ (OYDS) in three districts from June 9 to 11.

Through the premier operation carried out in the Petaling, Hulu Langat and Kuala Selangor districts, the agency detained 168 individuals, comprising 162 OYDS (positive for drugs), five others tested negative while one suspect was handed over to the police because he is believed to be involved in drug trafficking.

According to the statement, 81 individuals tested positive for Opiat, Methamphatamine (39); Methamphetamine and  Marijuana (3); Opiat and Methamphetamine (36), one each for Opiat, Methamphetamine and Marijuana.

The premier operation involved 70 officers from various departments and agencies including the Civil Defence Force, District Health Office, Social Welfare Department and the respective local councils who identified and tracked down the OYDS.

AADK hope those identified as OYDS can undergo rehabilitation and treatment programmes initiated by the agency to combat the drug menace and ensure the safety of the community.
