IPOH, July 19 (Bernama) -- The Perak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) seized 20 units of 14-kilogramme liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders of various brands, with an estimated value of RM1,856.40, and related documents in Batu Kurau yesterday.
Its director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said the Taiping KPDN enforcement team conducted an inspection at a grocery store premises in Batu Kurau town and found the controlled items, which fall under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, at the premises.
"The owner of the premises failed to produce any permit or licence for storing the controlled items. Accordingly, action will be taken under the Control of Supplies Act 1961," he said in a statement today.
He said that suppliers of controlled goods involved will also be investigated, and if proven to be involved will be subject to legal action for violating Regulation 9(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations (PPKB) 1974 for selling to parties who do not have the permission of the Controller of Supply.
Therefore, he said this was an offence under Regulation 21 (1) of the PPKB 1974.
