Former Marketing Manager Charged With 26 Counts Of Fraud Involving RM6.2 Mln

TAWAU, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- A former marketing manager of a palm oil-related company pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court today to 26 counts of fraud involving RM6.2 million since last year.

The accused, Mok Chuang Leon, 36, entered the plea after the charges were read before Magistrate Don Stiwin Malanjum.

Mok is accused of deceiving a company clerk into handing over RM6.2 million by submitting false palm oil sales statements from two companies between February 2023 and February this year.

The alleged offences took place at TB 8283, Lot 20C Perdana Square Commercial Centre, Batu 3 1/2 Jalan Apas, Tawau.

He was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries imprisonment of between one and 10 years, caning, and a possible fine upon conviction.

The prosecution was led by ASP Jeffery Kadisun, while the accused was represented by lawyer Chen Wen Jye.

The court granted bail at RM4,000 for each charge with two local sureties. However, at the time of reporting, the accused had yet to post bail. The next case mention was scheduled for Oct 8 and 10.
