KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Police raided an abandoned hotel in the federal capital known for prostitution activities late last night, resulting in the arrest of 10 foreign women suspected of being involved in immoral activities.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said all the women were nabbed in their respective rooms on the sixth to eleventh floors of the hotel during ‘Op Noda’, conducted by the Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) of the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent and the Dang Wangi District Police Contingent Headquarters.

He said the 11.45 pm raid revealed that the women had changed their tactics for seeking clients, opting to remain in their rooms instead of waiting in the ground floor eateries following previous police operations.

“Inspections on the rooms led to the discovery of various items believed to be used in prostitution. Investigations found that they were offering sexual services for a fee of RM100 to foreign men and regular clients from 10 pm to 4 am.

“The women are suspected to have entered the country as tourists and were engaging in freelance prostitution without supervision by any handlers,” he said in a statement today.

Rusdi said the case is being investigated under Section 372B of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
