JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- Johor police rescued a 15-year-old teenage girl in Kuantan, Pahang, yesterday, believed to have been abducted by a Chinese national and arrested the 22-year-old suspect at the same location said Johor Police Chief Datuk M. Kumar.

He said the police received a report from the victim’s father, a 48-year-old Chinese national, who claimed that his daughter had not attended school in Singapore last Monday before she was reported missing and believed to have been abducted by an unknown individual.

“Preliminary checks revealed that the victim was brought into Malaysia through the Woodlands checkpoint in Singapore last Sunday.

“Following intelligence gathered yesterday, the Crime Investigation Department of the Johor police contingent headquarters (IPK) conducted a raid and successfully rescued the victim in Kuantan, Pahang,” he said in a statement today.

Kumar said various items, including mobile phones, clothing, and equipment believed to have been used during the incident, were seized for further investigations while the victim will also be sent to a hospital for medical examination.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792), Section 48(2) of the Child Act 2001 (Act 611), and Section 361 of the Penal Code (Act 574).

“A remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code against the suspect has been approved by the magistrate for seven days, starting today until Dec 2. The motive for the incident is still being investigated.

“Therefore, the public is advised not to make any speculation or comments that could disrupt the investigation process,” he said.
