KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) bagged three golds and one silver in the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF) 2024 from Nov 27-30.
According to a statement issued by the RMAF Headquarters today, its RAIN Innovation project won two gold medals through the SIIF evaluation and the Thailand Invention Special Award, while the RWR B-Sensing innovation project sealed a silver medal from the SIIF evaluation.
RMAF was also awarded another gold medal in the Vietnam Innovation Special Award for both projects, in addition to receiving the World Innovation & Collaborative Idea Appreciation recognition from eight countries, namely South Korea, Indonesia, Morocco, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam.
The statement added that the four RMAF officers involved in the world-class fair were the head of the RMAF Innovation delegation Lieutenant Colonel Mohamad Rosdzni Abdul Karim; head of the RAIN Project and also RMAF Innovation Icon Major Mohd Haziq Izzat Sulaiman; head of the RWR B-Sensing Project Major Hasif Yahaya; and Ministry of Defence Innovation Icon Major Hairul Zaimy Ibrahim, who acted as moderator.
"The determination and earnestness of the four RMAF officers in helping to bring home three golds and one silver is a source of pride among RMAF members. This is RMAF's biggest world-class innovation contribution to the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF),” it added in the statement.
The RMAF Headquarters said the success of the RMAF innovation team not only reflected an extraordinary achievement for the country but also contributed to efforts to address global issues.
"This victory will hopefully instil a spirit among the RMAF members to continue to contribute creative ideas, as well as spur more innovation initiatives to help RMAF, MAF and ministry researchers,” it added in the statement.
In addition to the RMAF, the Royal Malaysian Nany (RMN) and the Malaysian Army (TDM) innovation teams also took home medals at the SIIF 2024, with each winning two silvers and a bronze as well as the Singapore Special Award.
The statement said the Malaysian Association of Research Scientists (MARS) was appointed to manage the MINDEF contingent that went to the international fair in Seoul.
The SIIF is a world-class innovation programme under the patronage of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA). The 2024 edition was participated by 519 teams from 32 countries, with the innovative projects evaluated based on various categories, such as health, environment and information technology.
