SHAH ALAM, July 1 (Bernama) -- The prime suspect in the murder of a private university student in a condominium unit in Cyberjaya is believed to have used the victim’s ATM card to withdraw RM200.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspect, an unemployed local man in his 20s,  was believed to have spent the night at the victim's house after receiving the key and access card to the condominium unit from his girlfriend, who was also the victim's housemate.

"During the incident, the victim's housemates, including the suspect’s girlfriend, were not at home. Police believe the case is about the suspect taking advantage of the victim,” he told a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters here today.

He said the suspect was believed to have stolen several items, including the bank card, a mobile phone and a laptop belonging to the victim, after the murder.

"The suspect had disposed of the victim's mobile phone, laptop, keys and house access card. However, some of the stolen items have been recovered by the police," he said.

Hussein said the suspect was among four individuals remanded to assist the police investigation of the case.

The three others were the suspect's girlfriends. They included the victim’s housemate, who also accompanied the suspect when he went to withdraw RM200 from an ATM using the victim’s bank card.

He said the police were preparing the investigation papers and, when completed, would hand them over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office for further action.
