KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- Two family members have been arrested over the murder, believed to be over unpaid debts, of an e-hailing driver in a house in Taman Pandan Perdana, Ampang, Selangor, recently.
Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail said the father and son, aged 73 and 36 respectively, were arrested between June 26 and 28, after a post-mortem examination of the victim found that there were elements of crime involved.
Following a report by an assistant medical officer at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital about a death at a house in Taman Pandan Perdana, the police went to the scene. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene.
He said the police also seized a bamboo cane and adjustable pliers to assist in the investigation.
The case was initially classified as a sudden death until the post-mortem report revealed that there were elements of crime involved.was obtained.
"After the autopsy was conducted at Ampang Hospital and the report was obtained on July 23, it was found that there were criminal elements with the victim's cause of death being a bacterial infection in the muscles due to injuries to the skin and bones," he said in a statement today.
The two suspects, both unemployed, were on remand for 14 days from June 27 until Thursday to assist in the investigation of the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
