KUANTAN, July 14 (Bernama) -- A cooking oil supplier pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court, here today, to a charge of submitting false information regarding the sale of controlled goods two years ago.
Edge Shipping Resources Sdn Bhd, represented by its director Abdul Rahman Ahmad, 78, made the plea before Judge Wan Noor Aisah Mohamed.
According to the charge, the company submitted 42 fake documents, in the form of invoices or ‘cash sales’ receipts to Pasar Mini Setali for the supply of scheduled controlled goods, classified as cooking oil, as required by the assistant supply controller.
The offence was allegedly committed at the Rural Growth Centre in Kampung Soi, Jalan Pantai Sepat, here, on Nov 1, 2023.
The company was charged under Subsection 8(4)(b) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and punishable under Subsection 22(2) of the same Act.
The company faces a maximum fine of RM2 million, and for a second or subsequent offences, a fine of up to RM5 million.
However, lawyer Ahmad Faizzuddin Fatahai Ariffin requested a new trial date for the court to rehear the case facts and sentencing.
The judge set Aug 8 for the continuation of the hearing.
