JOHOR BAHRU, July 27 (Bernama) -- Four enforcement officers suspected of accepting bribes of about RM3,000 for their involvement in a ‘flying passport’ scheme at the motor entry zone counter of the Johor-Singapore border were remanded for six days beginning today.
A source in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) revealed that the suspects, in their 20s to 40s, were reminded till Aug 1 to facilitate investigations under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
The four were arrested at the Johor MACC office yesterday on suspicions of receiving bribes for stamping passports without the presence of their owners.
Fourteen foreign passports, four mobile phones and RM3,000 believed to be bribes were found during their arrest.
It is believed that the suspects received about RM200 in bribes for each passport they stamped.
