KOTA BHARU, July 30 (Bernama) -- A trailer lorry driver faced anxious moments when his vehicle skidded and plunged into a 20-metre (m) deep ravine in Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Betis, near Gua Musang, today.
Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station chief, Senior Fire Superintendent Nor Azizi Che Noh, said that 32-year-old Wan Mohamad Irwan Wan Noor Ahmad, of Gua Musang, escaped unscathed in the 2.44 pm mishap.
"The victim managed to save himself,” he said when contacted today.
He added that preliminary investigations found that the victim was driving the trailer lorry from Gua Musang to Kuala Betis to collect timber before losing control of the vehicle, which then entered the opposite lane and plunged into the ravine.
"Members of the public contacted the fire department after failing to get any response from the victim, who, however, was just in shock,” he said.
