Suspects' Motorcycle In Attack On Rafizi's Son Used False Registration Plate - Police

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- The motorcycle used by two individuals believed to be involved in the attack on the son of former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli at a shopping mall in Putrajaya, yesterday evening, was using a fake registration number.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said it was the result of an examination of the registration number of the motorcycle used during the incident and his department was actively tracking down the two suspects.

"So far, the attackers have been identified as two individuals but the identities of the suspects have not yet been established," he said when contacted by Bernama here, today.

Shazeli said the police are still conducting investigations, including identifying the liquid allegedly used in the syringe during the incident.

Yesterday, the police confirmed that the incident was believed to have occurred at about 2 pm at the passenger pick-up and drop-off area at a shopping mall in Putrajaya.

Shazeli said the victim was a boy and was undergoing further examination at a hospital in Selangor.

He said investigations are still ongoing, including examining closed-circuit camera footage at the scene.

Rafizi in a statement yesterday confirmed that the victim of the attack was his son and that at the time of the incident, two male suspects dressed in black, wearing helmets and riding a motorcycle were following his wife's car.

According to Rafizi, who is also a former PKR deputy president, his son was suddenly pulled away and stabbed with a hypodermic needle.
