KOTA BHARU, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Police have confirmed receiving a report regarding a fight between a group of men at a laundromat in Pasir Pekan, Tumpat, which went viral on Facebook at 1:40 pm yesterday.
Tumpat District Police Chief, ACP Mohd Khairi Shafie, said they received the report at 5:14 pm from a female police officer stationed at the Wakaf Bharu Police Station after she saw a video clip of the incident uploaded to the Facebook page 'Kelantan Post'.
He said that a review of the 32-second video revealed a verbal argument between two men in their early 20s before it escalated into a physical altercation, which was also witnessed by nearby members of the public.
"The cause of the incident is still under investigation, and police have opened an investigation paper under Section 160 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement today.
Mohd Khairi urged anyone with information to contact Criminal Investigating Officer Insp Mohammad Nurul Safwan Mohd Zambre at 09-7257222 or visit any nearby police station to assist with the investigation.
He also advised the public not to speculate or spread the video without verifying the facts to avoid confusion and that can disrupt the investigation process.
