JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 19 (Bernama)  -- The police investigation into the bullying of a 10-year-old boy will soon be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP).

Johor police chief CP Ab Rahaman Arsad said the move is to seek legal views and advice on the next course of action, after seven individuals have been called to give their statements.

“We will first refer to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for views and advice. There may be additional instructions to complete the investigation of this case,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

The case gained public attention after the victim was reportedly bullied at a national school in Skudai in February and August last year, which left him with serious injuries, including a concussion and memory problems.

The victim’s mother lodged separate reports at the Skudai and Larkin police stations on March 23 and August 15, respectively.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

Earlier, Ab Rahaman visited the victim at KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital, as a show of Johor police’s concern and full commitment to addressing bullying among students, while also extending moral support to the victim and his family.
