KUANTAN, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- A bank sales executive was killed early this morning, after the motorcycle he was riding skidded and hit a slope on the road shoulder along Jalan Palong 8, here.
Bera police chief Supt Zulkiflee Nazir said that the incident occurred at about 6.30 am. The victim, Mohd Syukri Shahrudin, 33, who was riding a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle, was travelling from Rembau, Negeri Sembilan, to Terengganu to attend the RXZ Members 7.0 event, scheduled for tomorrow.
“Initial investigations found that, upon arriving at the scene, the victim was supposed to turn right at the T-junction, but instead went straight and collided with a slope on the road shoulder.
“As a result of the accident, he sustained severe injuries to his head and hands, and was pronounced dead at the scene,” Zulkiflee said in a statement.
It is understood that the victim was on his way to join the RXZ Member 7.0 programme, travelling with a convoy of about 60 other motorcycles, and he was among the earliest participants, at the front of the group.
Zulkiflee said the victim’s body had been taken to the Bera Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
