Police Cripple Syndicate, Seize MDMA Vape Liquids Worth RM1.48 Mln

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- Police have busted a syndicate distributing Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) in electronic cigarette liquid worth RM1.48 million when they conducted seven raids in the Klang Valley.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said nine people aged between 24 and 34, including a Thai woman, were arrested in the raids on Aug 22.

He said investigations revealed that the syndicate used luxury condominium units with gated and guarded security as processing and storage sites, while employing couriers to distribute the drugs.

“As a result of the raids, we seized 3.5 kilogrammes of MDMA, 7.6 litres of MDMA cartridges and bottles containing an estimated 39 litres of MDMA liquid.

“We believe the syndicate, which has been active since late last year, was distributing drugs through conventional means to targeted customers, with some supply reaching areas outside the Klang Valley,” he told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters today.

Fadil said investigations found that each 15-millilitre vape cartridge was sold at between RM100 and RM200.

He said police also confiscated various vehicles, luxury watches, branded handbags and RM1.5 million in cash.

He added that urine tests on all the suspects came back negative for drugs, and they are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Five of the suspects have been remanded for seven days until tomorrow, while applications to remand the remaining four were rejected.
