IPOH, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- The Perak enforcement division of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized 79 cylinders of subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) that were being used without permission at a floating house in Tasek Banding near Gerik yesterday.
Its director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, said the 1.30 pm raid was carried out following intelligence information and a week of monitoring at the location.
"During the raid, the enforcement team found 79 12-kilogramme cylinders of subsidised LPG that were used without permission for heating water for fish treatment. This resulted in the team seizing the LPG cylinders and several related documents, with the value of the seizure estimated at RM7,460," he said in a statement today.
Kamalludin said the floating house owner was suspected of committing an offence under the Supply Control Regulations (PPKB) 1974 for storing scheduled controlled goods without a permit.
"The supplier of the LPG involved will also be investigated for suspected violation of Regulation 9(2) (PPKB) 1974 for selling scheduled controlled goods to unauthorised parties and therefore an offence under Regulation 21(1) PPKB 1974," he said.
