KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Strategic foresight, timely intelligence and professional trust are vital ingredients in navigating today’s volatile and uncertain security landscape, said Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation (MDIO) director-general Lt Gen Datuk Mohd Razali Alias.
He said the evolving threats facing ASEAN today, ranging from maritime instability and grey-zone operations to transnational terrorism and emerging technological disruptions, transcend national borders and institutional silos.
“Only through coordinated intelligence collaboration, shared situational awareness and strategic alignment can we hope to respond effectively and decisively,” he said in his opening remarks at the 2nd ASEAN Military Intelligence Community Leaders Conference (AMICLC 2) here today.
The conference theme, ‘Sustainable Intelligence Cooperation for an Inclusive ASEAN’, reaffirms the bloc’s commitment to a more responsive, transparent and resilient regional intelligence network.
Mohd Razali said MDIO was honoured to host this year's edition of AMICLC, providing a platform for the exchange of critical ideas and the strengthening of long-term partnerships among the ASEAN military intelligence community.
He said since its inaugural edition in Vietnam last year, AMICLC has come to symbolise a growing awareness of the shared responsibility in addressing regional security threats.
According to Mohd Razali, the conference will feature focused discussions on four core topics central to ASEAN’s collective strategic interests, to generate actionable insights while deepening trust, mutual respect, and understanding among the region’s military intelligence community.
“Let us use this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to a united regional security posture, one that is proactive, resilient and prepared to meet tomorrow’s challenges,” he added.
