SEGAMAT, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- Five individuals, including three civil servants, have been remanded for six days until Sept 15 to assist in investigations in relation to false claims involving cattle worth about RM400,000.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Rahimah Abd Majid after an application was made by an investigating officer from the Johor branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Segamat Sessions Court this morning.
According to sources, the five suspects, comprising a woman and four men, aged between 30 and 60, were arrested separately yesterday while giving statements at the Segamat MACC between 11 am and 2 pm.
Initial investigations found them suspected of conspiring to certify and submit documents containing false material particulars related to claims for payment for the supply of heifers to two statutory bodies in Johor, even though the supply was not carried out.
"All suspects, including a company owner and a manager, are believed to have carried out this act in February 2023,” according to a source.
Meanwhile, Johor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin@Hamim, when contacted, confirmed the matter and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
